Armenian participant at Bologna Children's Book Fair
24-27 March 2014
With the support of the Book Platform Events Participation Support Scheme, 1
participant from Armenia – Mr. Mihran Barseghyan took part in Bologna Children's Book
Fair (24-27 March 2014) – the leading professional fair for children's books in the world.
Mr. Barseghyan represents Andranik Publishing House, specializing in educational, developmental, early childhood, children's, and language literature, and Manmar Publishing House, engaged in creating and publishing exclusively educational materials. Attending the fair was very important for him, as he had a chance of face to face meeting with their main partner business organization. They had been distributing their books in Armenia already for 2 years, but never had a chance to meet each other face to face. During this meeting they negotiated substantially better trade conditions, which wouldn't have been possible by means of email communication.
Furthermore, the Armenian participant took advantage of the rich program of the fair and participated in a training covering the issues of new developments in online sales and promotion of books, as well as in a panel covering some aspects of ebook publishing, applicable to children books.
"Participation in the Bologna Book fair helped me to establish more trustful relationship with our major business partner from UK. After attending the fair I can acknowledge that I now have a better understanding of the publishing opportunities that arise on international market. However, I still need to learn a lot", says Mr. Barseghyan.
